Effra has grotesque characteristics mixed with humanist design details which gives it a unique and distinctive appearance. In October of 2016, MetLife introduced a new identity designed by NY-based advertising agency Prophet and announced the end of its association with Snoopy and the Peanuts characters as a key element of its branding and advertising.

The new wordmark was probably created based on the Effra Medium from Dalton Maag. Notable difference from Effra includes a dot instead of a square on the letter “i”. For the previous logo font, it is Futura Bold designed by Paul Renner.
